Today has been a tough day for me. My mom called me this morning to tell me about the earthquake in Mexico. She knows I don't watch the news because of how depressing it can get so she wanted to make sure I knew. My grandmother along with some of my aunts live down there. Some of their homes are about to fall apart due to the quake, but as far as I know they are okay. But we haven't been able to touch base with everyone so we can only hope that they are alright. Please pray for them and for all the families that are suffering right now.

I went to Mexicali, Mexico this January to visit my family and had such a blast. My family is so welcoming, not to mention their big hearts! Here are some of the photos I took of my cousins while I was down there. These are some of my favorite people in the whole wide world! Each time I see them I am filled with joy....

Meet "M" & "B" -Las Vegas Children Photographer

These sweet little sisters have such a beautiful bond. You can instantly tell how much they love each other. We were originally going to do an outdoor shoot but the weather in Las Vegas has been crazy! And they were visiting from Colorado for a short period of time so we decided to do a studio shoot since the wind would not go away. But you can't go wrong with these little beauties. They gave me such beautiful expressions. Thanks for letting me spend time with your family :)

Tiny "B" was shy the first day we met, but by the day of the shoot we became good friends. Don't you just love her pigtails!

I can't believe I've slacked off on my blogging again! Well I can believe it, I've been all over the place. I went to WPPI which was AMAZING! I was able to meet and learn from some of the best PHOTOGRAPHERS in the world. I am coming out with a brand new blog. Yay! It will be released sometime next week. And I'll just have to have a contest of some sort to celebrate the launch of the new blog. So make sure to tune back next week. I'll also have lots of beautiful shoots to blog.

This is my favorite photo of her. She just has such a beautiful and sweet smile! I love you Bryn!

Do you remember your mom telling you how cute you were as a child. And how you would always carry around your favorite teddy or maybe your favorite blanket with you. How you couldn't live without that precious toy. Well here is what Bryn cannot live without, this is her "Bell" dress from Beauty and the Beast. I see Bryn in this dress every time she comes to visit. No matter how good mom might hide it Bryn always ends up finding it. She LOVES this dress and doesn't leave the house without it. So when we went to the park I had to make sure I got a few photos of her in her princess dress. Isn't she beautiful!?

I just hope my kids are as cute as her......

I need a model for tomorrow or Sunday. I am doing a fashion shoot for one of my classes. If you want to have some fun in front of the camera give me a call 335.5329 or send me an email. Half of the shoot will be done in the studio and other half will be done outdoors.

must be a girl between the ages of 16-25 years of age,

have 1-3 cute outfits (ex. jean w/ cute tops, formal dress, etc),

Hello to the world! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday season. I've not been able to post anything for the past few weeks because I caught that bug that was going around! I am finally all better and back to work. One of my New Year Resolutions was to keep a journal of some sort. So I've decided to start "Wendhy's World." This will be a fun place where I will share the bits and pieces of my world (including photos offcourse), and also a place to ramble on about random stuff....

So aside for being sick the first part of January I also started school. And I graduate at the end of this semester with an Associates in Commercial Photography, YAY! I can't believe that two years ago I bought my first DSLR and started down the road of photography. Some more good news: Troy (my husband) also graduates this semester at UNLV with a Batchelors in Finance. So we will have to throw a party at the end of the semester since there will be much to celebrate. All we have to do is survive all the homework!

While I was sick, Wendy (no "h" weird?), one of my best friends gave me this:

A few days ago my friend Kennedy and I went for a walk at Floyd Lamb Park. It was the first day that I had been out of the house so I had a blast. It was just what I needed. And I couldn't leave my house without my camera, so here are a few shots...

Not only was the sky beautiful that day, but the weather was perfect!

And I had to take some snapshots of Kennedy's girls. We didn't do an actual shoot we just took a few shots, no pressure just two photographers hanging out. And since Cadence is such a cutie I got some beautiful portraits of her. Check them out:

I love this shot! I was soo lucky to have captured it because Bonnie(the dog) was moving around like crazy. I hope I have beautiful kids like this some day.

I just want to talk about FRIENDS for a second. I have been blessed with amazing friends. I can't imagine my world without them. So I just want to say THANK YOU for being supportive, for watching chick flicks, for helping out with homework, for taking me to the park, for letting me borrow your toys, for baking me cookies, for teaching me how to sew, for making me laugh, and for soo much more. You know who you are,

You guys are the best!

And some more random stuff before I say goodbye: my friend Patty (who is one of my best friends in the whole wide world and one of my favorite people offcourse) is coming down to Las Vegas so I can shoot her engagement session. Yay! And my little sister is pregnant with a girl. Yay! John & Natalie = Married in Las Vegas

Natalie and John came from Texas to get married in beautiful Las Vegas. I just loved them from the start. Natalie is also a photographer so we just had to become friends!
We had quite an adventure on the Las Vegas Strip. They were married in the evening at the Venetian and had their reception at Treasure Island (TI). Once the reception was over we drove around in a limo and got some BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS around the Las Vegas Strip! We had tons of fun :)

It was pretty cold that night, but when you are with the one you love nothing else matters.
Since they are from Texas we just had to do this photo!

Did I mention that we flew to Paris to get this photo...............I wish!!

This last one is one of my absolute favorites from the shoot! There is just so much innocence and something about her expression gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Carly=Sweet 16 (Las Vegas Photographer)

I just loved this shoot! What a great present for your Sweet 16! Carly had her hair and makeup done by the talented divas over at the Las Vegas Style Sirens. Makes me want to get a makeover :)

Carly has such a beautiful smile and the photos turned out great. I had a really hard time choosing my favorites for the blog. So here they are:

I just LOVE him!

Meet my little brother! He is such an energetic and fun person to be around. I still can't believe that he is in 7th grade (maybe 8th grade, they grow up soo fast). I remember playing with him when he was only two years old. Time does fly, which is why I am grateful for photos.

We wen't out one day and drove around Las Vegas to find some cool walls.

Here are some silly faces: (he really enjoys making me laugh, by the way, he purposely squints his eyes when doing silly faces) Isn't he just cute!

When I looked at this photo I almost wanted to cry. I realized that this little guy is no longer my baby brother, he has transformed into a young teen. It really shows his mature grownup side...

And this one shows why I love to be around him....

As some of you know I have been really sick the past few weeks. Lying in bed and watching tv all day gets boring when you've watched the same episode three times. So when I felt up to it I would start editing photos. Whenever I need a break from editing photos for my clients I start editing photos from my personal projects. Crazy I know! So thats exactly what I did today. Hope you enjoyed my brother's photos. Until next time.

Evelyn + Jared= Married (Wedding Photographer)

This was such a beautiful wedding. Evelyn and Jared got married at the Green Valley Ranch Casino at sunset. I had an absolute blast capturing their love story that day.

Jared is head over heels for Evelyn!

Here are some of my favorites from the day....and don't you just love her something blue!

Not only is Evelyn drop dead gorgeous, but she has such a good heart. Everyone around her just loves her!

I love the socks! It might be hard to read but they say groom, father of the bride, groomsmen, etc.

And a big THANK YOU to Marjone. She is Evelyn's good friend and was one heck of a wedding coordinator. She made sure everyone was on time for pictures and rounded everyone up. The day would not have been a success without you!

I shot with film for the first time!

Don't worry I am only shooting film for my Large Format Class not for my clients. I am lugging around a huge camera that takes 4x5in film. I've always wanted to mess around with film and I finally have a chance to do so. (for an entire semester) The film holders only hold 4 film sheets per shoot, so I have to be very precise with my settings because I only have 4 shots (this really makes me appreciate digital photography). I heard from some of my classmates that their film didn't develop correctly so I was a little stressed out when I was developing mine. Specially since I was developing my assignment the day before it was due. Procrastination is bad! And when it comes to school I tend to do it a lot, shame on me! Well here is my first assignment. I had to photograph a building without having any distortion and I did it! This first photo is of the film negative after I developed it. Doesn't the negative look cool. It reminds me of infrared.

The photo on the left is the actual photo for my assignment. The one on the right is just for fun.

And I just loved how beautiful the sky looked so I took a quick photo of the entire building...

Dave & Stacy's Wedding - Wedding Photographer

I photographed Dave & Stacy a few months back when I did their engagement session. You couldn't ask for a nicer couple. They are truly meant for each other. I just love the way Dave looks at Stacy. His eyes are so full of LOVE!

Here are some of my favorite photos from the wedding day. Stacy had a beautiful suite at the Aliante Station Casino where the FABULOUS DIVAS of the LAS VEGAS STYLE SIRENS got to work. They have such a great team, they got Stacy's hair & makeup done pretty quick and the results were beautiful...

Look at those beautiful eyes! Didn't I say the Las Vegas Style Sirens did a great job! And don't you just love Stacy's flower? Yep, it was a Hawaiin themed wedding.

One of the things I love about Stacy is that she loves BLING! Look at those cute rhinestones that are in her bouquet...

Girls Night out at THE PLAZA!

This event was a lot of fun! We got together with some of our preferred wedding/event vendors and had some awesome giveaways. Thanks to all the brides that showed up. Here are some quick snapshots of the vendors. (that's me on the top left)

Here is the part of the event that all the brides looked forward to, the giveaways! And look at the excitement on their faces...

At my booth I had one of my beautiful backgrounds and did some fun photos of the brides and their bridesmaids. Aren't they gorgeous....

And this cute girl on the left won the free engagement session I gave away. We have some cool ideas for her shoot, but you'll have to wait and see. I'll be doing her session this upcoming weekend. Yay!

And the hot divas below are from the Las Vegas Style Sirens. They are soo nice and do such AMAZING work! They are Wendhy recommended!

Check out the photo below! The Las Vegas Style Sirens did Auburn's hair and makeup and did such a great job. Don't those angel wings look great?! I just used those wings for a boudoir session recently and the photos turned out amazing.

Brides, if you're looking for something special to give to your husband on the wedding night, The Little Black Book is the way to go! Or if your one year wedding anniversary is coming up this would make a great gift. Give me a call to get more details.

And here is a photo of all the vendors in the photobooth provided by All Events. I just love their photobooths. They can fit a lot of people, they provide fun props for you to wear, and they'll print out two strips of photos. Not to mention that the owner and his staff are fun people. They do a fantastic job at all of their events. If you're looking for a DJ or photobooth, All Events is the way to go!

Thank you to all our vendors for the amazing giveaways and for making this event become a reality.

And a special thanks to Adam, from the Plaza at Whitney Ranch, for allowing us to hold the event at his beautiful property. This is definitely an excellent venue to have your wedding or event. I ♥ Faces - Completely Candid Photo Challenge

Here is my entry this week for I ♥ Faces.

Some of you might have seen this photo in the past, but I just love it! I took this photo at the end of the shoot. We were already done, just sitting on the grass talking while Lilly clinged to her dad, she was ready to go home....and she started whispering something to her dad. So I immediately turned my camera up towards them and pressed the shutter. I can't remember what she whispered, but from the looks of it, it was serious business.

How to leave a comment on my blog...

If you're not familiar to blogging it can be kind of tricky. So here are some step by step instructions on how to leave me a comment. (I just found out that if you're using FIREFOX for your web browser you won't be able to leave a comment, so you'll have to use INTERNET EXPLORER OR SAFARI (for mac users))

First you'll want to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the blog post you're viewing (but don't skip to the next set of photos from another session) and find my signature (the pink heart next to the text "Wendhy"). Right underneath it you will find the word COMMENTS, click on it. Here is an example of what I am talking about:

Once you click on COMMENTS it will take you to this screen: (now just do the following steps)

When you're done typing your comment, you click on POST COMMENT. The message doesn't automatically appear, it goes through the comment moderation and usually posts later that day. Meet Charlene & the rest of the bunch! (Las Vegas Family Photographer)

Charlene just celebrated her 50th birthday and decided to get some family photos while everyone was in town. Family photos are so precious because before you know it the kids are off to college or getting married. And trying to get everyone together can be quite challenging. You pulled it off Charlene.

Here are some of my favorites. In case you didn't notice, Charlene is the one being attacked by all the kisses. Doesn't she look great!

This little gal was too cute. I think she is definitely daddy's little girl....

I just love my couch! If you're looking for some unique family photos, furniture out in the middle of nowhere is always fun! I just got a new/old vintage chair that I can't wait to take out...

By the way, we had horrible wind for the first part of the shoot, so I am very thankful that we were able to get some great shots after all.

I ♥ Faces (Contemplative & Pet Challenge)

So I found this really cool photo site through one of my friend's blog called I ♥ Faces. They have weekly contests with different themes, so I thought this would be a great thing to do to keep me on my toes. This weeks challenge was:

CONTEMPLATIVE: thoughtful observation; full or deep consideration; dreamily or wistfully thoughtful: a pensive mood; expressing or revealing thoughtfulness; quiet modes of apparent or real thought; can be marked by some sadness, but doesn't have to be.

And I immediately thought of this photo. Its one that I took when I was first starting out. This little girl is shy and I just loved her expression.

PETS: I loved this little guy! Pets are just too cute, they seriously have their own little personality just like us. I mean look at that expression! I took this photo while at Vicki Tauffer's workshop (It was a ton of fun and will have more photos from the whole trip later).

I think I had a little too much fun with this dog so I might have a Pet PROMO coming up for all you pet lovers. So if you're a pet lover and would like some art photos of your pet stay tuned to the blog.

Its fairy time... (Las Vegas Children Photographer)

Meet little Miss Hailey, she was one of the winners for the Little Mr & Miss Nevada Pageant. She is such a cutie pie and just loved my fairy wings. We couldn't get her out of them. Here are some of my favorites...

I have to tell you the story behind the photo below. Mom wanted me to take some photos of her wearing this cute little headpiece with a black outfit that had an apron (with no wings) but Haley wanted to keep her wings on, hug her blankie, and suck on her binkie. After cropping the photo this is what I got and I just loved the expression in her eyes, so innocent, sweet, and kinda sad.
